FreeCommander

freeCommander is a dual-panel file explorer with many additional features. In addition to the standard file management features, it can be used to compare directories, display folder sizes, synchronize folders and more. The program can also open/create ZIP and CAB files, and open RAR files, as well as search inside those archives. You can set view filters, create folder list (for printing), change file attributes, launch a command prompt, take a desktop screenshot and more.

Pros: Includes useful file management features; archive support; view filters; dual-pane navigation

Cons: Older interface; no integrated file previews; no FTP support

* Localized Vista folders (reparse point folder) can be opened now
* New command line parameters /NewIni=, /Ini=, /NoPlugins, /Lng=, /N, /C, /Z
o /NewIni= Starts FC with a different INI file instead of freecommander.ini. A new file will always be created. If defined file exists, it will be deleted first.
o /Ini= Starts FC with a different INI file instead of freecommander.ini. A new file will be created if the defined file does not exist.
o /NoPlugins Starts FC with disabled plugins
o /Lng= Starts FC with a different language file instead of that defined in config file
o /N Starts FC in any case as new instance
o /C Starts FC and passes the command line parameters to the already running instance
o /Z For usage with /C parameter - interprets the passed paths as source/target instead of left/right.

FreeCommander XE - Preview


FreeCommander XE ZIP does not include an installation-procedure but consists only of a ZIP-archive which contains all required FreeCommander XE files. The ZIP-archive can be extracted into a directory of your choice and FreeCommander XE can be started from this directory. However there will be no FreeCommander symbols created in the start menu and on the desktop.
